Now that you’ve finished treatment, you will be dealing with feelings and changes that are different than the ones you had before cancer became a part of your life. That’s not uncommon but it may take some time to get used to this new “normal.” Connecting with others in our network will help you adjust to life after cancer treatment As part of the Network, you’ll receive the bi-monthly Link for Hope newsletter by mail. If you use email, you may also be notified of events and cancer related information via email. You will find opportunities to meet new friends who have walked the same road you have. Support groups, friendship groups, becoming a “buddy,” fitness and nutrition classes, tools to promote long-term wellness, and a variety of other events are available to help you enjoy a more active life again—socially, physically and emotionally. If you would like to receive a free copy of the National Cancer Institute booklet, Facing Forward - Life After Cancer Treatment please contact us at SCarbone@IUHealth.org or order directly from the NCI website at www.cancer.gov. Excellent resources are also available from the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship at www.canceradvocacy.org or the Lance Armstrong Foundation at www.laf.org. |
